In recent years, clear aligners have become increasingly popular among both teenagers and adults. They are a great alternative to braces and are much less visible, making them a great option for people who are concerned about their appearance.
The clear aligner treatment process begins with a comprehensive oral health assessment and suitability assessment.
Once it has been determined that clear aligners are the best option for the patient, a smile simulation is created using computer software. This allows the patient to see what their new smile will look like after the treatment is complete.
A photographic assessment is also taken at this time.
A 3D intraoral scan is performed which is used to create a treatment simulation , which is a 3D model of the patient’s teeth that is used to plan the movement of the teeth during the treatment.
The next step is tooth preparation & placement of attachments. This is done in order to ensure that the aligners fit snugly against the teeth and that they are able to move the teeth in the desired direction.
Once the attachments have been placed, the patient is given a series of aligners. Depending on the requirements of treatment, either all sets of aligners are handed over to the patient or aligners are handed over in stages to the patients if more frequent tracking of tooth movement is desired.
We may perform additional 3D scans to track the actual tooth movement to the planned tooth movement and modify the tooth movement as per the needs of the case at the specific stage of the treatment.
Once the treatment process is complete and the desired results are achieved patient is advised to use retainers so that teeth are stabilized in the new position .
The end result is usually satisfactory and the compliance of the patient plays equally important role in the complete treatment process.
Afterall teeth will not move as desired if patient fails to use the aligners as desired.
